Who I am and my first days in Ukraine

Hi! : )

Who am I?
My name is Vinicius Mendonça Vermiglio. I’m from Brazil, São Paulo. I’m 21 years old and now (december 2012) I have just finished my sophomore year in Journalism at the São Paulo State University (Unesp).
This blog is the result of my experiences as an EP in Ukraine. Through the Explore Ukraine project (managed by the AIESEC Lviv) I will try to write my feelings and impressions of this journey that started on December 12th (the day I left Sao Paulo)  and will end in January 28th.

Well, let’s begin.
My plane was from Sao Paulo to Budapest, then from Budapest I went to Ukraine by train. I don’t recommend doing so... If you’re leaving from Sao Paulo I believe it’s better to spend a little more money and fly to Lviv.

Arriving and Living
I get off the train around noon, Lviv local time. My buddy couldn’t pick me up because she was studying for her tests in college, but she sent another girl to replace her, Nadya. She met me at the train station and took me the whole way until the hostel I am now living. I share a room with other 7 people: Gabriel, Andrea, Taís, Andrea (Brazil. Yes, two Andreas); Pilar (Argentina)  Davi, Guadi (Colombia). We get along quite well.

The cold
The cold is what bothers me the most because I had never experienced this weather. The coldest I experienced was -2ºC (in Canada) and when I got here it was around -8ºC. Nadya told me it was an “OK day”. Here in Lviv, it’s easy to be on a -20ºC. You must buy the proper clothes. Don’t just wear a lot clothes one on the top of the other.

Places I’ve been
So far, I’ve been to a nightclub, the Harry Potter Café, and have walked a lot around town. The most interesting place so far was the top of the clock’s watch. You walk really high up in a tower (more than 250 steps) and from there you can see a big part of Lviv city center. The view is worth the climbing.

Happiness
I miss my family and my girlfriend, of course. But this is an unique experience, and what’s making it one of the best of my are the people I meet everyday that are so different from me and yet just happy as I am to be in Lviv.

Hope you like reading my blog.
Please comment, if you feel like.

Here's one the first pictures I took.
